Do you want to save some money from the electricity bill this Christmas? Follow these tips

December 12, 2016 by Staff News Writer

If you want to save a few colones in electricity bills this Christmas, you just need to follow a few instructions.

December is a great month to use your imagination and creativity and, of course, you cannot miss Christmas lights. It is also the perfect time to receive a lot of people in your house.

This can lead to an increase in the electricity bill and other services, but if you don’t want this to happen, you’d better take into account some specialists’ recommendations.

Melvin Pacheco, operating-technical assistant manager at Coneléctricas R.L., informed that families that adopt good habits can save up to 12% in invoicing.

Pay attention:

-Make sure the equipment in your home is in good condition.
-Do not leave the electric lighting on all night long. Check the condition of Christmas lights, especially those that are outside.
-Switch from fluorescent bulbs to 5-to-10-watt LED technology.
-Do not preheat the oven for more than 8 minutes.
-When cooking, use full size pots or pans.
-When preparing food, take into account that bowls are made of materials that transmit heat quickly.
-Do not cook with all the power of your kitchen.
-Heat food in the microwave.
-Do not leave lights on if you are not using them.
-Use the washer, dryer, and iron only when you have a considerable amount of laundry or ironing.
