Drug ring’s contacts were managed from La Reforma

October 12, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The group of drug traffickers dismantled on October 11th by the Drug Control Police (PCD) used to make their contacts through an inmate who is in La Reforma prison.

This was confirmed by Gustavo Mata, Minister of Security, who explained that a man known as “Cali” was responsible for creating connections with other criminal groups in San José.

This man represented a vital contact in the distribution of drugs and did everything using just a cell phone from his prison cell.

In response, the minister stressed the need to block the cellular signal in prisons. During the raids 10 people were arrested  in the South Zone and in the capital.

It was a consolidated group and the fact that we stopped their operations is going to have a very positive effect,”

said Mata.
