FA disagrees with Rousseff’s deposition: “it was an attack against the people and the nation”

September 8, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Although president Dilma Rousseff was removed from office for violating the Brazilian Constitution, members of Frente Amplio disagree with the decision because they believe it was a political trial.

Lawmakers of that political party placed a banner in front of their seats in the plenary, by which they announced their criticism.

The sign said: “Senators’ decision replaces the will of more than 54 million electors. It is an attack against the people and the nation.”

On August 31st, in a historic voting process, 61 out of 81 Brazilian senators ousted Dilma Rousseff. She was suspended from holding office since May, because she was found guilty of cooking the books.

Rousseff was also accused of issuing three decrees and expanding expenditures without legislative approval, ignoring the fiscal targets previously approved by Congress.
