Five National Parks were closed due to storm emergency

The National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), closed 5 National Parks as part of preventive measures against the emergency in the country with the arrival of the storm Otto.

The closed areas are parks: Chirripo, Tapantí, Macizo de la Muerte and the International La Amistad. On Tuesday afternoon they made the decision to also close Tortuguero National Park.

The following national parks are temporarily closed due to the yellow alert and Tropical Storm Otto in Costa Rica,”

said SINAC through its official Facebook page.

These measures will be maintained on a temporary basis until the end of the emergency and the potential impacts on Protected Wilderness infrastructure can be assessed.
