Foreign tourist has been missing since Tuesday

November 30, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A Venezuelan resident in Miami, United States, went missing in Costa Rica and the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) requested assistance from the citizens to find her.

Carla Stefaniak, 36, disappeared without trace since Tuesday and her family in the US is desperate to get any information of her whereabouts.

The foreigner apparently came to Costa Rica alone to celebrate her birthday and was planning to return to Florida on Wednesday. She was in areas such as Manuel Antonio (Quepos) and La Fortuna (San Carlos). However, since the night of November 27th, no one has heard from her.

This Thursday, the OIJ published an image of her and asked people to send any report about her whereabouts through the official channels destined for that purpose (800-8000-645).

According to a publication distributed on Facebook by her relatives in the US, the last thing they knew from Carla was that she rented an Airbnb in San Antonio de Escazú to spend her last hours in the country in San José.

The last time we heard from her was on November 27th at around 8:00 p.m. when she said it was raining heavily and that there was a power outage. She was staying in a hostel she found on Airbnb. He had to take a flight the next day (November 28th) at 1:00 p.m., but he never showed up. The US embassy in Costa Rica and the FBI already know about this,”

stated a user identified as April Antonieta.
