Foreigners arrested with 32 stolen cellphones

September 12, 2019 by Staff News Writer

A Peruvians couple was arrested at the Juan Santamaría airport while trying to leave the country with 32 apparently stolen cellphones.

The subjects were identified as Suárez and Surichaqui. They were apprehended by the officers of the Airport Police of the Air Surveillance Service (SVA) of the Ministry of Public Security.

Upon being checked by the OIJ, the judicial agency corroborated that several of the devices had been reported as stolen.

Therefore, the authorities of the SVA Airport Police confiscated the cellphones and sent the foreigners to Alajuela Prosecutor’s Office.
