About 100 children living in extreme poverty enjoyed a different day, full of joy, games and gifts.

The John 3:16 Foundation, along with the Rotary Club of Escazú, offered them an early and different Christmas and in the company of their mothers.

The children were able to forget all their difficulties for a day. They were invited to the Simón Bolívar Zoo (which provided all the tickets), where they were in contact with the animals for the first time. They also ate pizza and each of them received a gift.

We wanted to give a different Christmas to all these children that we assist every week in the red zone of San José,”

said Mónica Mendoza, a member of the foundation.

The organization brings food every Thursday to people living on the street, including all children who had, perhaps, their first holiday party.

Next Thursday will be the time to celebrate with the adults, who will enjoy tamales, cakes and other traditional Christmas meals.
