Government asks former presidents to support the fiscal plan

August 28, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The government of Carlos Alvarado is calling the former presidents of the country to request support for the fiscal plan, which has met with various obstacles in the Legislative Assembly.

Laura Chinchilla and Rafael Ángel Calderón sent a message warning of the consequences that the country would face if the tax project sent by the Presidential House was not approved. Miguel Angel Rodriguez, went further and, in addition to pointing out the need to increase taxes, insisted that the government has to stop creating new jobs, transfer less money (to public universities, for example), and invest in what it’s “truly needed”.

If we do not solve the problem of public debt, interest will increase, in which case those who pay for home loans, car loans, personal loans, will be paying more,”

said Laura Chinchilla, whose government warned about the fiscal problem and promoted a plan that failed to be approved.

If the tax reform is not approved, the damage would be greater… Increased unemployment, increased inflation, increased cost of living,”

said Rafael Angel Calderón.
