Government suspends executives investigating the cement

October 3, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Governing Council decided to suspend the five members of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Costa Rica who did not resign their positions following the request of President Luis Guillermo Solís.

Four of them have investigated and denounced the cementazo: Mónica Segnini, Francisco Molina, Alberto Raven and Evita Arguedas. The Council decided to also suspend Paola Mora, who has acknowledged having a close relationship with Juan Carlos Bolaños and has defended him.

According to Alfaro, the dismissal will not hinder the investigations and as they decided not to resign, the Governing Council began with the process of dismissal against as a precautionary measure.

Alfaro said that they are still waiting for the five members to reconsider their position.

The other week the Council would be announcing the new members of the BCR board.

In recent days the former National Bank manager, Víctor Ramírez, was mentioned as one of the men who would reach the BCR. However, this was ruled out on Tuesday. They claim to be looking for people with experience in banking and finance.
