#Hacéquecuente wants you to make your efforts count to preserve the environment

April 12, 2019 by Staff News Writer

#Hacéquecuente (make it count) is an initiative to help the environment through volunteer spaces. The most recent experience was on March 29th in the vicinity of the boulevard near the Borbón Market, in the heart of the capital.

The National Chamber of Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism in Costa Rica (Canaeco) leads these projects in favor of sustainability in the framework of the seventh International Conference on Sustainable Tourism: Planet, People Peace-P3.

Canaeco uses national festivities allusive to the green issue and, in this opportunity, they coordinated with the Municipality of San José so that the sweepers in charge of the cleaning did not collect waste for 24 hours.

To everyone’s surprise, the House volunteers collected around a ton of garbage left by those who passed by or work nearby.

For Dayana Hernández, executive director of Canaeco

the important thing is to make visible the impact that one person has on the planet, where each action adds up and counts as a grain of sand in favor of the environment.”
