Hail was due to climatic factors

August 9, 2016 by Staff News Writer

According to the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), Monday afternoon hail was due to several climatic factors.

In sectors such as La Uruca and Pavas, hail was reported. It was recorded in videos shared by users on social networks.

Gabriela Chinchilla, a meteorologist, explained that there were some elements that allowed the phenomenon to ocur.

“There were several conditions: high temperatures in the Central Valley: 29 degrees Celsius, (3 to 4 degrees above normal), we have the 24th tropical wave passing through the north of the country and low pressure in the Pacific Ocean which generates humidity” explained the expert.
