Isolated failures in electrical and telecommunications system

The electricity and telecommunications systems are stable and do not report major failures, according to a report by the National Emergency Commission (CNE).

In telecommunications, isolated failures, such as base stations out of service at specific sites, for damages caused by the rains and winds are reported.

The electrical system was affected in:
Caribbean Region: Pocora, Germania and El Cairo, Linda Vista, Altos de Guayacán and Florida, Siquirres, and Zent in Matina.
Osa: Drake Bay.
Guanacaste: La Cruz.
Puntarenas: in the towns of San Roque and Pozo de Agua, in Esparza.

The following telecommunications and contact centers from Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) remain operating for the public’s attention: 1193 (services), 1119 (failures in landlines and Internet), 1113 (telephone number information). ICE’s electrical failures reports can be made via line 1026.

The National Power and Light Company (CNFL) has lines 1026 (for breakdowns) and 800 ENERGÍA (800-3637442) for failures, consultations or formalities.
