Italian arrested for sending drug mules to Europe

February 28, 2019 by Staff News Writer

An Italian man surnamed Levice, 46, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of leading an international drug trafficking gang.

Drug Control Police (PCD) officers raided some booths in Pan Dulce in Puerto Viejo, Talamanca, Limón, where they arrested the foreigner.

Levice seems to be sending drugs to Europe, mainly Italy. He had no judicial record and he had a residence permit in Costa Rica. He was investigated since January 26, 2018.

The authorities confiscated drugs and 3,279,000.00 colones in cash.

It is also presumed Levice worked with another Italian surnamed Righini, who was arrested on May 22th at Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela. The man wanted to transfer 70 ovules containing 582 grams of cocaine inside his body.
