Legislator Vargas proposed to create a national pension fund

January 26, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Legislator Humberto Vargas, from Partido Unión Social Cristiana (PUSC), proposed to create a National Pension Fund.

The initiative intends that pension beneficiaries can immediately receive the corresponding amount of money to meet their needs.

With the creation of the fund, all legal institutions that aim to protect the beneficiaries’ interests would be strengthened.

The project would authorize the National Children’s Board (PANI) to establish the National Pension Fund.

The fund would be financed with 1% of the political debt, transfers of budgets, interest and donations from the fund itself, as well as refunds and recoveries from benefits and debtors.

The PANI would pay the fund 50% of the lowest minimum wage established by executive decree.

According to the legislator, families that face divorce, separation, marriage annulment and problematic coexistence do not usually have the necessary conditions to claim the right of food allowance, which directly affects the most vulnerable in a family.
