More than 16 thousand Costa Ricans would donate their organs

June 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

As part of the Ángeles de Esperanza campaign, the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) celebrated the Day of the will to donate organs and tissues in Calderón Hospital.

The goal was to create a registry for people to express their willingness to donate organs.

The event began with a Mass, followed by a tribute to Dr. Mario Rafael Rivera, one of the transplantation pioneers of the CCSS.

All registered donors were handed a card. People can also register online from home or office through www.ccss.sa.cr/donar.

To this date, 16,539 people have registered.
