More than $180,000 between jalapeños

The Drug Control Police (PCD) seized $182 680 dollars (more than 100 million colones), hidden in a shipment of jalapeños.

The incident occurred last Friday in Peñas Blancas de La Cruz, Guanacaste, when PCD officials checked a van from Honduras.

Upon inspection, the agents found 20, 50 and 100 dollar bills, in the differential of the vehicle, mechanical component that is connected to the axis of the wheels carrying vehicle traction.

The case was in the hands of the judicial authorities, and the driver will have to serve three months of preventive detention. The suspect is a Honduran man named Mejía, who was placed in the custody of Public Prosecutions.
