More than half a ton of drugs were found at sea

On Tuesday morning the Ministry of Public Security captured a boat with three crew members who were carrying a shipment of cocaine.

After receiving an alert about the possible arrival of a drug vessel in the Golfo Dulce, the National Coast Guard Service carried out an operation to apprehend the suspects.

The police action allowed to find the vessel at 6:40 am this Tuesday in front of Cabo Matapalo, Golfito. The boat, which is for sport fishing, was intercepted and its three occupants (Ortíz, Arosema and Rojas) arrested for international drug trafficking.

The boat had 588 kilograms of drugs, as well as 38,000 colones, 1,015 dollars and 1,228,000 Colombian pesos.
