More than two thousand blood donors are needed this season

December 6, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The Christmas season is not only a joyful period, it’s also the time when blood is scarce in hospitals in the country.

In order to meet the needs of patients, including those who were in traffic accidents, it is necessary to increase the reserves of this vital liquid.

The National Blood Bank needs 2,142 donors.

Dr. Sebastian Molina, a specialist at the Blood Bank, explained that their facilities are open from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 8:00 am until noon.

On December 16th there will be a community blood donation day in San Pedro de Poás de Alajuela in the facilities of the Costa Rican Red Cross between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm.
