OIJ agent died in accident during persecution

November 26, 2017 by Staff News Writer

An agent of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) died in a traffic accident on Sunday when they were chasing a suspect in Paso Canoas.

His partner remains in a delicate condition at Ciudad Neily Hospital. The entity confirmed the death of the man surnamed Quintero who is an agent in the area.

It is presumed that the agents collided with a tree after losing control of the vehicle in which they were traveling. Apparently the agents were conducting a persecution or surveillance of another vehicle in the area, when the traffic accident occurred.

However, the judicial authorities still do not confirm the causes of the incident.

The events occurred around 1:20 p.m. 500 meters before the National University in Corredores. The victim was declared deceased in the place by the Red Cross.
