30,000 students will participate in the Once Upon a Time Program, which will take them to the National Theater to see 8 plays of great cultural value.

This initiative started last year and it reached more than 23,000 children from public and private schools of the whole country.

This is part of an alliance between the Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ) and the Ministry of Public Education (MEP), through which students can enjoy dance, theater and music staging.

Kattia Grosser, director of Student Life, commented that these works are subsidized by the Theatre for students.

This year offer is quite broad, it will start in March and will end in December.

The plays are:

The Orestíada (March)
El Pájaro de fuego-The Firebird (April)
Frankenstein (May)
El Sueño de una Noche de Verano-A Midsummer Night’s Dream (June)
El Diaro de Anna Frank-The Diary of Anne Frank (August)
La música en Arma Trocar-The music in trocar weapon (September)
Visiones-Visions (October)
Alicia en el País de las Maravillas-Alice in Wonderland (December)

State, private and night schools interested in attending the performances just need to contact the Directorate of Student Life of the Ministry of Public Education at 2256-7011, ext. 2554 or 2336. They can also visit the MEP webpage or Student Life Facebook Page.

The students will have the possibility to take a guided tour at the National Theater and will also have the printed version of some of the readings. In addition, teachers will receive a methodological form per play, a document that summarizes the most important elements of the staging and suggestions to work before, during and after the show.
