Only 5 presidents participated in the Tuxtla Mechanism for Dialogue and Cooperation Summit

March 30, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Although the majority of Presidents and Heads of State of the countries belonging to the Tuxtla Mechanism for Dialogue and Cooperation Summit were expected to come, only 4 leaders visited Costa Rica, in addition to Luis Guillermo Solís.

This meeting convenes the 10 Presidents or Heads of State of Mexico, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, Belize and Costa Rica.

Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico, Jimmy Morales of Guatemala, Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia, Juan Carlos Varela of Panama, as well as President Solís are suspicious due to the other president’ absence. The other countries were represented by their foreign ministers or vice-presidents.

Tuxtla Summit started on March 27th at the Real Intercontinental Hotel and it concluded yesterday. The main topics were migration and security, as well as projects on the welfare of all participating countries.
