Picnic on the River is back

February 27, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Fourth National “Picnic on the River” Day will take place on March 12th. The event brings together about 50 organizations and invites everyone to participate.

This activity was to be held last November, but it had to be suspended due to Hurricane Otto.

Picnic on the River aims to enjoy urban rivers, appreciate them and become aware of their importance by having picnics in different rivers throughout the country.

According to Alonso Briceño, director of Urban River, an organization that promotes this activity,

we try to return these spaces to people’s everyday activities, because people from the cities rarely visit and appreciate them…”

Those wishing to participate can find the locations for the picnics on our Facebook page on the Río Urbano site. The idea is that people find the closest picnic or just register to have one.
