Police officer helped drug gang led by Colombians in Jacó

The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) provided details about a series of raids carried out in Jacó de Garabito, in Puntarenas, aiming to dismantle a drug trafficking group in that area dedicated that sold and distributed cocaine, marijuana, crack and ecstasy.

Nine raids were made and 11 people were arrested. The leaders are two Colombians named Quintero and Méndez, who have residence in the country. Six other subjects operated behind them, including a Public Force officer surnamed Rojas, who was prominent in Tárcoles, and helped the group by warning about police checkpoints to avoid road checks.

The drug was sold to locals and foreigners identified as high profile tourists. The latter usually stayed in luxurious homes or condominiums.

In the investigations, the agents found drugs (ecstasy doses) and $ 3,000 in cash and 1.6 million colones . Also vehicles and motorcycles.

The Colombians lived in a condominium with private security and boasted a standard of living with medium-high economic capacity. The drug was transferred from Limón to Garabito for later distribution.
