Police saved injured parakeet

August 8, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The Border Police saved a parakeet from being run over. As a result of the high temperatures that occurred in Los Chiles, Alajuela sector, the parakeet was

disoriented, hungry and fatigued (…) it was barely moving embraced by the sun in a dusty street where a certain death awaited him,”

as reported by the Department of Public Safety Press (MSP).

The events date back to Tuesday afternoon, when these officers were about to start their routine patrol and ran into the bird.

According to the police report, the F040 unit officers rescued the parakeet from being run over when they went to the Tablets post. The agents returned from verifying an illegal logging case in the border area of Cuatro Esquinas de Los Chiles, and at that time they found the unprotected animal.

Officers took the bird to the Table stand, where they fed him with ripe banana. Minutes later, the police handed the bird to representatives of the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) so that the veterinarians of the institution can take care of it.

The animal will be released in its natural habitat.
