President Luis Guillermo Solis’ responses were tied

President Luis Guillermo Solis’ responses were tied.

His performance is rated as good in the taxi drivers’ demonstrations, but it is rated as bad during Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) workers’ strike.

Both situations were analyzed by political experts.

Political scientist Francisco Barahona said that the president’s decision of not receiving ICE protesters and mediators, without even sending his ministers, was a mistake.

The political scientist stated that the circumstances were very different when compared to the taxi drivers’ demonstrations.

In this case, Minister of Public Works and Transportation Carlos Villalta and Minister of Public Security Gustavo Mata were spokespeople and thanks to their coordination, the protest ended after noon.

The President’s attitude was timely. He did not get involved. Instead, he delegated responsibilities to his
ministers. Coordination was perfect.

Government’s arguments convinced people who were on strike because Uber is in the courts and they are trying to solve the situation.

The last strike was scheduled for today. It was planned by Traffic Police officers. However, it was suspended after a meeting between the government and the union.

Political scientist Claudio Alpízar, agreed that government’s actions regarding ICE workers were wrong and it even showed contempt towards their work because he sent deputy ministers to negociate with them.
