The man in the recording is not president Solís

August 9, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Mauricio Herrera, minister of communication, denied that an audio file spread in social networks is president Luis Guillermo Solís. Costa Rican leader assured that he is not the one delivering that speech.

In the recording, a voice similar to president Solis’ delivers a message of prevention about the alleged acts of violence that will take place during the taxi drivers’s strike. It urges people to stay away from the roads because there will be a lot of confusion and they will even use tear gas. In the audio file, the voice declares that violence will begin very early, before 5 am, and everything will be complicated, but it authorities expect to control the situation within some hours.

Taxi drivers planned a demonstration against Uber and they announced several street closures.
