August 9, 2016 by Staff News Writer

ZooAve Animal Rescue Center, reported the death of a puma and an ocelot in recent days. They were killed by unscrupulous people.

The first case was a female puma in Pérez Zeledón, which apparently was chasing chickens when it was killed.
The animal orphaned 2 cubs, one of which is in ZooAve, located in La Garita in Alajuela.

On the other hand, the ocelot was attacked by hounds in Lagunas in Turrubares area. It had several wounds and died before arriving to the nearby clinic.

A statement released by the organization informed that residents of the area are taking actions and they are now hunting and killing the felines.

The animal rescue center is requesting people to report the situation to the Ministry of Environment and Energy, in order to find the responsible ones and to protect the endangered species.
