Ready your pockets: fuel prices will increase

April 18, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Monday, the extraordinary study of prices for fuels was presented to ARESEP and, if approved, it would take effect in May.

The prices requested in the extraordinary study of April imply an increase of ₡21 (3.5%) for super gasoline, ₡23 (4.0%) for gasoline plus 91, and a reduction of ₡6 (3%) for diesel.

With this adjustment, Costa Ricans will have to pay ₡594 per liter of gas plus 91, ₡621 for super gas and ₡ 469 for diesel.

Among other factors, price changes take into account changes in international cost and the average exchange rate.

In this price study, the calculation of the price differential is also incorporated, according to the current methodology, to be revised bimonthly and the results obtained are transferred to the next two months.

This time it corresponds to the application of the differential of the January-February period, which will be in force for the months of May and June 2017.
