December 13, 2016 by Staff News Writer

If you are one of the people who should work on December 25th and January 1st, the following information interests you.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security reported that December 25th and January 1st are mandatory, paid holidays, in accordance with article 148 of the Labor Code. This year, these dates coincide with Sunday .

For their enjoyment and recognition, it is necessary that employers and workers consider the following rules:

-All working people, regardless of the type of activity they do, have the right to enjoy the holiday , that means, they don’t have to work. Although it is a national, transnational or international company, it must grant this holiday.
-No employee is obligated to work on this holiday, and he/she can do so only if he/she agrees . No one can be sanctioned for deciding to enjoy the holiday.
-Companies that have weekly or monthy payment (in non-commercial activity), must proceed as follows: they must pay the worked days and add the value of the mandatory payment holiday. In addition, if you work during the holiday, another simple salary is added to complete the double payment.
– If you work overtime during these holidays, these hours should be paid in a time and a half or a triple payment.
