Rescue dog with serious injuries after 22 days of neglect

June 16, 2017 by Staff News Writer

On Monday, rescuer Evelin Piedra was informed about a female dog in very poor conditions in La Florencia de San Carlos, but she never imagined that they would be so cruel.

When she arrived at the abandoned house, she found the dog of about seven months old with severe wounds on its neck and legs.

A Nicaraguan family had it tied in a barbed wire, they left it like that about 22 days ago. Days later the people notice the cruelty, so we took it to the veterinarian and at the moment I have it in my house,”

said Piedra.

Piedra called the dog Lany after she was hospitalized and treated.

Its neck was infected, it had very large abscesses. It’s a pup. Now it’s stable, with medicines, it’s eating well and looks very happy.”

The rescuer will stay with Lany until she is completely well, vaccinated, and neutered.

Last Sunday, President Luis Guillermo Solís signed the Law Against Animal Abuse that punishes these acts with penalties from three months to one year.
