Showdown between La Doce and La Ultra in San José

November 14, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On Sunday, a fight between two groups of soccer fans called La Doce and La Ultra (Saprissa and Alajuelense) in the center of the capital left a wounded person and about 30 detainees.

The incident took place in Segunda Avenida when both groups found their way to the respective stadiums to watch the matches of their teams.

Upon reaching the security forces, one person with the Alajuelense shirt was injured with a blunt force trauma to the head, apparently caused by a tube.

After the fight, 30 purple followers were transferred to the delegation of Barrio México for disturbing public order and also for not carrying identification.

Meanwhile, a bus with members of Herediano’s fans, called “La Garra”, was intercepted by the security forces in Desamparados de Alajuela. Upon revision by the authorities, sticks and stones were found and confiscated. They also coordinated with Carmelita team (rival) to not let them in the stadium.
