Solís expressed his condolences due to Fidel Castro’s death

November 30, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Luis Guillermo Solís, president of the Republic, was the first person to sign the book of condolences that installed the Embassy of Cuba to honor the memory of Fidel Castro, Cuban president and leader of the revolution, who served as president for decades.

Castro, accused by many of being a dictator, died in Havana on November 25th.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry published Solís’ complete message after the leader’s death:

On behalf of the Government and people of Costa Rica, I extend a fraternal feeling of condolence to the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba on the occasion of the sensitive death of Mister Fidel Castro Ruz, Commander in Chief of the Revolution. Together for history, Costa Rica and Cuba, Cuba and Costa Rica experience these historic changes with solidarity.

On November 26th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica expressed its condolences to the Cuban government after the death of the revolutionary leader.
