Taxi drivers denied an audio against Uber drivers

March 1, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Since February 22nd, after the ruling of the Constitutional Chamber in which the actions against the law that regulated the Public Service of Remunerated Transportation of People in the taxi mode (SEETAXI) were declared inadmissible, confusion between taxi drivers and Uber drivers has ruled.

Last week, a group of taxi drivers blocked the route to a driver, who was accused of being an Uber collaborator, which could not be verified.

However,it wasn’t only that: an audio in social networks started to circulate: it states tha taxi drivers are allegedly encouraging people to corner Uber driverts to then call the Traffic Police.

The audio aims to eliminate the 2,000,000-colon fine that they received due to their illegal condition.

Alejandro Fernández, owner of Evolution Taxi, which works at Plaza Lincoln Mall, declared that he ignores what the audio is and he won’t suborn anyone.

Mario Calderón, director of Traffic Police, stated that citizens can’t take seriously an audio like that and if there were any compaint, they can file it in the Department of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office or the Judicial Investigation Agency.
