The Border Police arrested a Nicaraguan woman

March 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Officials of the Border Police of the Ministry of Public Security arrested a Nicaraguan woman who tried to bribe several policemen.

The foreigner, surnamed Ramírez, was approached by the officers in a sector known as El Mercadito, near the border line.

The Nicaraguan offered them 5,000 colones so they could allow her to continue her journey on Costa Rica territory.

The woman did not carry a passport and her immigration status was irregular.

Ramirez was immediately arrested and handcuffed. In addition, she now faces a criminal cause for corruption.

At the moment, the detainee is waiting for precautionary measures.

So far this year, the Border Police has arrested five foreigners for attempted bribery.
