The Executive will not yield on the National Budget issue

September 7, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Government of the Republic said that to change their opinion about the 12% increase in the budget 2017 is a very remote possibility.

Minister of the Presidency Sergio Alfaro expressed that they tried to cut the spending plan to the maximum and to go beyond that will impact on the public services for citizens.

As an example, the minister spoke of education and said that the amounts strictly correspond to what it is needed for the school budget 2017.

The Legislature has criticized the increase requested by the Executive and even some congressmen from opposition parties said that they would not approve a spending plan with more than a 2.5% increase.

The Budget approval is expected before November 30th.
