The MEP expects to have a resolution on the teacher who married her student

March 22, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The 40-year-old teacher who married her 15-year-old student in Pérez Zeledón filed an appeal to transfer the charges to a different judicial district, but it was rejected in January.

Yaxinia Díaz, head of Human Resources at the Ministry of Public Education (MEP), explained that with this, the case returns to this institution that expects to have a resolution by the end of April.

At this moment, the MEP is evaluating the testimony and documentary evidence and it will determine if an administrative measure or sanction can be filed.

This case pushed legislators to pass the law that prohibits and punishes improper relationships with minors.
