The new Bajos Chilamate-Vuelta Kopper road is almost finished

September 28, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The new Bajos Chilamate-Vuelta Kopper road has a global advance of 78%. It includes the main road and some additional works.

This construction will allow a faster connection between the Northern and Caribbean areas of the country. In addition, fuel costs and travel time will be reduced because the average speed will increase from 50 km/h to 80 km/h.

The progress of the works was confirmed by Vice Minister of Infrastructure Guiselle Alfaro, who performed an inspection in the area. According to Alfaro, the project will be fully completed by next year. The bank is providing a loan of 52,45 million dollars for the development of this project.

On the top of that, the Vice Minister of Infrastructure informed that the construction of 4 out of the 7 bridges, that integrate this road, were successfully finished: Toro river bridge, San Pedro ravine bridge, Pericos and Campamento ravines bridges.

Furthermore, Guiselle Alfaro explained that due to the approval of some other projects by the General Comptroller’s Office of the Republic, some works will substantially improve the original project.
