The OIJ has new clues on the Dutch couple and the Nicaraguan citizen’s murder

December 1, 2016 by Staff News Writer

After arresting the suspects of murdering a Dutch couple and a Nicaraguan citizen in Sardinal of Puntarenas, the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) confirmed that they are members of a gang dedicated to committing violent robberies.

The subjects are linked to 7 robberies and assaults in homes, including one made in a hotel in Punta Islita in October.

Its main range of action was in the province of Puntarenas.

5 suspects were arrested. Their last names are Angulo, Calderón, Bertarioni and Mellado.

As an important fact, there was a brush-painting writing at the crime scene.

It was a message that referred to the murder committed by one of the suspects.

This gang was violently hitting the community. They are related to 8 aggravated robberies, including one where a homicide attempt was committed,

informed Miguel Abarca, public prosecutor.

In the raided houses, authorities found objects that would have been stolen in Sardinal and 2 firearms.
