May 21, 2017 by Staff News Writer

La Cara de lo Ajeno

Amira Jalet is a designer of contemporary artistic jewelry. Since 2013, she represents Costa Rica in international events.

Jalet is currently participating in a contest of the Italian firm Itsliquid Group after creating a work with debris from the rebuilt sidewalks in Montes de Oca.

The work is called “La cara de lo ajeno” (the face of the other’s belongings) and competes to participate in exhibitions to be held in the United States, China, Greece Argentina and Colombia.

I started working with non-conventional materials in the application of artistic jewelry. I saw that they were chopping the sidewalks, so I took a piece of debris and made the piece of jewelry,”

said Jalet.

The work uses cement, putty, mortar, wood, acrylic, glass and resin.

This woman is the only Costa Rican who has participated in artistic jewelry competitions in Barcelona, Romania and Hong Kong. In the current competition, she must face judges and there is also a digital category that is won by likes. You can help her by liking her work on Facebook.
