Tourist mega-operation produced 38 arrests

This weekend a mega-operation was developed in bus terminals, airports, hotels and roads, as well as rivers, lakes, beaches and volcanoes. This produced the arrest of 38 people for various crimes, in addition to preventing many other criminal actions.

Nearly 15 of these arrests include crimes against property, 10 for various crimes and the remainder for been wanted by Costa Rican Justice.

Five firearms were confiscated, four of them during an intervention in Cartago. In addition to these apprehensions are two alleged criminals who, in Playa Hermosa of the canton of Osa, southern area, were arrested by the security forces after assaulting a couple of tourists and stealing a cell phone and other items.

The confiscation of 2.3 kilos of marijuana carried out by the Public Force of Heredia during a roadblock on Route 32 was also carried out. Officials detected the drug aboard a bus from Limón.

Similarly, the police operation seized a total of 462 doses of crack and 33 of cocaine. In the field of migration, 63 people in irregular migratory status were detected and sent to the General Directorate of Migration and Immigration.

The authorities of other institutions, such as the Traffic Police, also took part in this operation. In total, 33 vehicle owners and 114 motorcyclists received tickets to the Traffic Law. Also 28 motorcycles were confiscated, while another 11 were left without their plates also for violating the aforementioned legislation.
