Truck drivers will go on strike today

February 27, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Truck Union will go on strike today.

Some of the drivers’ requests is to set a tax of 20% on the value of the freight to Central American truckers, who would offer their services to the companies established in the country.

Authorities are urging people to be careful and plan their trips because truck drivers could affect roads.

The demonstration would start at 6 am in San José, Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago.

According to the Government of the Republic, the strike is “unjustified”, since they assured that dialogue with the union is open and work with the whole sector is already giving results.

Public road blockades are forbidden.
