Turrialba volcano erupted 11 times on October 3rd

October 4, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Eliecer Duarte, expert at the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI). informed that on October 3rd, Turrialba volcano erupted at 7:42 am. However, it was only the first of 11 eruptions reported by authorities. The last eruption was recorded at 11:35 am.

Although visibility does not allow us to provide more details, the seismic signal shows a tremor that supports this information,

declared the official.

He added that the condition of the wind was very variable: winds generally change in October for being a rainy month. So it is common that the winds change their direction as we have noticed above, where the north or south areas of the volcano are affected.

Ash fall will be more erratic due to the winds in the Pacific.
