Two brothers named Juárez, one of them a 17-year-old minor, were arrested on Saturday for muzzling a turtle and then try to butcher it.

The incident occurred in the area of Pacuare, Limón, in the morning.

Thanks to an operation of the National Coast Guard Service (SNG) it was possible to find the subjects and recover the turtle, which was released in the wild in healthy conditions.

Carlos Hidalgo, a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security reported that so far this week they have intercepted at least five similar situations.

“We maintain the commitment that we have in the institution with the protection of environmental safety of flora and fauna,” said Hidalgo.
