Two people arrested for stealing fuel from Matina oil pipeline

May 28, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Two men were arrested Sunday for stealing fuel from the Matina pipeline. Officers of the Public Force arrested the suspects and confiscated some instruments that they apparently used to commit the crime.

The delegation of Matina got the alert and immediately went to the site, where they got a strong smell of fuel. When they approached the pipeline they found out that it had a rudimentary extraction.

The officers also observed some tracks that went towards the plantations on the edge of the road. Following the tracks, they found several cannons and containers. In addition, they located the alleged responsible for the theft. The subjects also had a strong smell of gasoline.

The men, both Nicaragua and surnamed Miranda, are now in the hands of the judicial authorities. The Matina Public Force also coordinated with officials of the Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery (RECOPE) to repair the pipeline.
