Who is “Gato Cole”?

October 10, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Keylor Jacob Cole Kelly, known as “Gato Cole”, is currently in the hands of law enforcement authorities.

The man, who is allegedly linked to one of the narco gangs fighting for territory in the province of Limón, was at the Lincoln Plaza shopping center in Moravia, when authorities found him.

He was apprehended while authorities checked the carry permits and registration data of at least two weapons that he and five other subjects carried with them.

Gato Cole has been linked to territorial conflicts that keep Limón mired in tension and violence. The most recent event he is linked to is last Sunday’s Cieneguita shooting, when five people, including an eleven-year-old boy, lost their lives.

The fatal bullet exchange involved another band led by a man known as “Ojos Bellos”, identified as Dinnier Estrada.

According to sources of Judicial Investigation, Gato Cole is the leader of one of the drug gangs fighting to seize control of the province. The man is no stranger to justice, since he has already faced processes, and his status is “free with precautionary measures.”

The Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation against Cole for the alleged crime of money laundering.
