You can now request your criminal record through Internet!

January 6, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Save time! You can now request your criminal record from your home or office through the online service.

The procedure can be performed through the Judiciary official page and you only need to take it to the Judiciary Office or the nearest Regional Administration of your community.

To have it, you must present your valid identity card; if you are a foreigner, you must have your passport.

If you cannot do it personally, you can authorize another person, but he or she must have an authorization authenticated by a public notary.

There are 2 types of certifications:

The national one, which is used in Costa Rican territory, usually for work or university purposes.
The International record, which is used for different purposes abroad. It must be signed by the Chief of the Judiciary Office and it must later be authenticated at the Executive Directorate. It must finally be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
