4 people arrested for human trafficking in Heredia

On Saturday morning, the Immigration Police arrested four people suspected of trafficking Nicaraguan migrants.

In an operation that took place in Tapón de Chilamate in Sarapiquí, Heredia, the officers intercepted three buses with 38 undocumented Nicaraguan nationals.

The three drivers as well as a collaborator, all Costa Ricans, were arrested. They were identified with the last names Ureña Escobar, Ureña Padilla, Abarca Valverde and Ureña Robira.

The 38 illegal immigrants are being held by the Professional Migration Police, and four of them were called as witnesses.

The operation was carried out jointly with the National Patronage of Children (PANI), the Public Force and the Traffic Police.
