A drug-trafficking family was arrested in La Cruz de Guanacaste

October 11, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Thanks to the investigation conducted after several anonymous calls to the confidential line of the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ), it was possible to dismantle a narco family in La Cruz de Guanacaste.

A 49-year-old woman, surnamed Lara, was arrested after a raid conducted by the Drug Control Police (PCD). She is involved in various drug-related crimes such as possession and introduction of psychotropic drugs to a prison facility. Her partner was also arrested. He had previously participated in an aggravated theft and the violation of the Migration Act.

During the raid, PCD officers seized 1322 doses of marijuana, 22 doses of cocaine, 17 doses of crack and a revolver without serial or brand. In addition, they found near a million and a half colones and a thousand córdobas in cash, which presumably was the result of the illegal business that ran the couple.

Thanks to the complaints and the work performed by the Ministry of Security, the PCD has dismantled 23 drug-trafficking families, 3 more than last year.
