The company marketing rice, beans, sugar, oil, coal and preparations, La Maquila Lama, received the international certification in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) that tries to identify the hazards that affect safety and consumer health.

According to Juan Carlos Sandoval, General Manager of the company, the certification has a system created with high quality standards that ensure food safety products and is granted by the Uruguayan certification entity LSQA for three years.

To maintain it, the company must undergo a review and follow-up audits each year.

The company acquired two new teams that will improve the current packing process and will further assure consumers that the treatment given to food is the best suited to ensure their safety and cleanliness.

In addition, La Maquila Lama had to undergo close scrutiny by the international LSQA auditors that audited aspects as cleaning and disinfection of facilities and equipment, supply and use of water, prevention and pest control, handling practices by staff, staff training, food safety, preventive maintenance of equipment and facilities and monitoring of suppliers.
