A writ of amparo was filed against president Luis Guillermo Solís

November 8, 2016 by Staff News Writer

On November 7th the Consumers Free Association presented a writ of amparo against President of the Republic Luis Guillermo Solís and Minister of Finance Helio Fallas for limiting the importation of new vehicles.

The organization said that the decree, published on October 26th, violates the fundamental rights of consumers and it also contradicts environmental commitments.

According to the directive, the importing agencies are not able to bring to Costa Rica new models from January to August 2017.

The measure was taken to stabilize the vehicles’ fiscal value. The Association assures that they will present a lawsuit before the Administrative Contentious Court in order to return the last-3-year taxes to the owners.
